The latest Horizon FD80 yacht will soon be available to the Australian market. Constructed to CE certification, this is the third FD80 making its way to the continent, whose market has demonstrated tremendous interest in the popular FD Series.
Designed by Cor D. Rover, Horizon’s Fast Displacement (FD) Series has pioneered the high-volume interior design trend sweeping the yachting world. The popularity of the series is further amplified by the comfort and stability afforded by Horizon’s proprietary High Performance Piercing Bow and hull design. Ranging from the FD75 through the conceptual FD125 and FD140 designs, Horizon’s Fast Displacement Series has grown rapidly, evolving with owner feedback and customization that becomes standard on future builds.
The new FD80 features a four-stateroom layout with a full-beam master suite on the main deck and three additional staterooms on the lower deck. The yacht is also configured with a split-use skylounge, which sees an enclosed wheelhouse area forward and a protected al fresco area for entertainment extending aft on the boat deck.
Taking advantage of the yacht’s 22’ 6” beam, the aft deck of the FD80 welcomes visitors boarding via the Besenzoni passerelle to a spacious area equipped with both fixed and freestanding furnishings, including a custom sofa. Stairs to either side lead down to the swim platform, beach club and access to the crew quarters for four. Large opening doors lead into the spacious main salon, where the views seamlessly continue via the full-height windows that characterize the FD Series design.
Designed in a contemporary yet comfortable interior aesthetic described as “Charcoal in Snow”, the main salon is highlighted by water-bleached walnut with brushed metallic highlights and dyed koto accents. This space features a dayhead aft, a sumptuous seating area with an L-shaped sofa opposite a fold-down television and entertainment area, and plentiful hidden storage. A convertible breakfast bar/formal dining table is positioned forward to starboard with a wine cooler and additional glass storage just forward before the staircase that ascends to the wheelhouse. This yacht features an open galley configuration with heated flooring and a center island with barstools and a contemporary feature light overhead.
Situated forward on the main deck, the master suite spans the full beam and is outfitted in bleached walnut with dyed koto accents. A skylight with motorized blinds is positioned over the bed while a stunning headboard serves as a focal point. Heated flooring has been implemented in the master en suite and all the guest and crew heads and the yacht’s Kabola diesel heating system provides warmth when the outdoor temperatures warrant.
On the lower deck, three additional en suite staterooms comprised of two VIPs and a convertible twin continue the “Charcoal in Snow” style. A stacked washer/dryer area is located in the lower foyer while crew quarters for four are situated aft of the engine room housing the yacht’s twin MTU 10V2000M96L 1600bhp engines. The aforementioned beach club features a large and comfortable seating area with a hi/lo pass-through window into the crew galley, allowing for superb entertainment and relaxation at this level.
The upper deck of the new FD80 is an incredible retreat, with multiple entertainment and relaxation areas extending from bow to stern. Accessed via stairs from the aft deck or via the internal stairwell highlighted by a plastered marble feature wall, this deck comprises an enclosed wheelhouse with twin Besenzoni helm chairs and a desk/workspace area. Double sliding doors open out to the boat deck, where a large dining table for eight is flanked by a console with a pop-up rotating television to starboard and a wet bar to port. This air conditioned space is protected by the fixed overhang and extended sides, which feature opening windows for additional breeze. Awnings can extend to protect the entertainment and lounging area that continues aft and features a large Jacuzzi tub with a bar counter and three bar stools. Additionally, the boat deck aft offers the flexibility to be used as tender storage or another great lounging and relaxation area with freestanding furniture. The foredeck is another signature space for the FD80 model, and this one features a sprawling sunpad and U-shaped dinette seating that is conveniently shaded by an outdoor awning.
“The Cor D. Rover-designed Fast Displacement Series has been extremely well received in our market,” said Horizon Yacht Australia director Mark Western. “We’ve already sold two FD80 models and look forward to presenting this next version to our clients.”
Built on spec, the latest FD80 will soon be available for viewings at the Horizon Yacht Australia location in Sanctuary Cove.
