A man responsible for the death of two victims in an Alabama boating accident will now face additional charges in Baldwin County, Alabama, according to an article at www.dothaneagle.com.
Steven Angel, 39, of Mobile, Ala., is charged with two counts of manslaughter as a result of a weekend boating accident that occurred in Mobile Bay when his boat crashed into a concrete piling under the I-10 Bay-way Sunday, July 22. Angel was reportedly under the influence when his boat crashed, law enforcement reports.
The accident claimed the lives of Brittney Ann Lell, 28, of Dothan, and Bobby Daryl Lambert, 60, of Prichard. A third victim, Erica Lynn Arenal-Mullen, 41, of Dothan, is in critical condition.
“The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Marine Division has done a fine job investigating this case,” said Baldwin County District Attorney Robert Wilters in the article. “In the beginning, Angel was charged with operating a vessel without an emergency shutoff device and boating under the influence. Following a more in-depth investigation, he was re-arrested Tuesday, and charged with two counts of manslaughter and one count of first-degree assault.”
Investigators are trying to determine the relationship between Angel and the victims.
The case could go before a grand jury before a preliminary hearing is held because of the ongoing
investigation.
Each additional charge comes with a maximum 20 year sentence
